MUSIC!!!
Most of us love music in all kinds of forms and genres. Recently Christian music artist Matt Maher gave a concert in the area. The name may not sound familiar if you do not listen to Christian Rock, but this is a person who has played at World Youth Day crowds of 50,000 plus and fills arenas all over the country. Its worth checking out this genre if you’ve not done so before. Groups like Casting Crowns and performers like Brandon Heath, Audrey Assad and Chris Tomlin are worth listening to. No one is saying it’s the only music to listen to, but at least make it one of your choices and get familiar with some of the artists. A great concert could be right around the block!
THE “END” OF SUMMER
With school around the corner we start taking ourselves out of summer mode and reluctantly readying our calendars for the school year. Not only do we have classes to tend to, but all of the other activities we are involved in. Not to “add anything” to the crazy schedules we live, but if you don’t already do this try it out! We’re talking about adding a little prayer each day. It doesn’t take up a lot of time, but you’ll feel the benefits. And we’re not talking about “oh, I pray on the way to school,” or something like that. That’s ok, but actually stopping what you’re doing and spending one to five minutes communicating with God exclusively is a whole different experience!
ALL ST. EDITH HIGH SCHOOL TEENS (& any other who would like to come!)
Put Monday, September 13th on your calendar! That evening will be a special presentation on “Why Be Catholic?” This may not sound too exciting of an hour, but life is full of so many weird things and we look all over for explanations sometime without realizing something worth our time has been with us all along. This will be the first of three presentations over the entire school year on this about the Catholic Faith. It doesn’t matter where your head is or what your attitude about church is come and spend just ONE HOUR from 7 pm until 8 pm. Refreshments will be available before and after and the gym is open from 6 until we start. Again, no matter how much you think you already know, or how much you really don’t care about religion PLAN ON BEING THERE. It will be worth your time!
AN EARLY SUBIACO NOTE
Just an early note that this year’s high school retreat at Subiaco is in the Fall (the weekend before Thanksgiving) instead of in the Spring. Thanks to the efforts of those who worked the car wash and an upcoming bake sale fund raiser (first Sunday in Oct.) the cost should be affordable to anyone who wants to go. It may seem odd having the retreat at the beginning of the year, but maybe it will help us get through the year in a better frame of mind.Plan on coming!
